This course provides an overview of various traditions of literature written in the British Isles and in the many parts of the globe colonized by the British Empire. The course covers various historical movements from the Age of Revolutions to the present聽and orients students to a broad sweep of English literature while also raising questions about what work the 鈥淓nglish鈥 in English literature does. Spring semester.
