Although 鈥淣ever Again鈥 is an important post-Holocaust slogan, the reality is that genocides have been occurring with increasing frequency since 1945. This course explores two lesser-known genocides: the Armenian genocide of 1915 and the Rwandan genocide of 1994. Students also explore the conditions that make a society ripe for genocide and consider strategies for preventing genocide, and for moving forward in its profoundly traumatic wake. Fall semester, alternate years.
