Winter | Spring Admissions Process

We understand the transfer process can be overwhelming.  We created this page to break down month by month the steps necessary for Winter | Spring Admission.  Speak to a transfer counselor if you have any questions.  Follow the link if you intend to transfer Fall Admission.

  • If applying to a California State University (CSU), create an account on the and begin filling out the application.
  • If applying to a University of California (UC) school, create an account on the and begin filling out the application.
  • Start working on your  (UC).
  • Visit CSU | UC websites for universities of interest.
    • Check for supplemental criteria that may be required for
      admissions.
  • Meet with a counselor to verify if you are transfer ready.
    • Be sure to:
      • Check eligibility for  if you have substandard grades (D or F).
      • Pay attention to due dates for university applications and supplemental applications.
  • Check out our University Representative webpage.
  • Apply for your CSU or IGETC Certification/Associate Degree(s) if completing requirements by the end of spring.

  • If applying for UC TAG, submit  no later than May 31.
    • Check  for the UC school you are interested in.

  • For winter/spring admission, check to see which  campuses are open.
  • Complete a .
  • UC application fee per campus is $80.  Fee waiver requests are embedded in the UC Application.
  • Schedule an  with a counselor to ensure your application has no mistakes.
  • Submit UC Application by July 31. 
  • Keep copies of your application and/or confirmation number for your records.
  • VERY IMPORTANT: Check your email regularly after applying.  There may be deadlines and directions for setting up university portal accounts. 

  • Check to see which  campuses are open for spring admission.
  • Attend a CSU/UC Admission Application Workshop.
  • Complete a .
  • CSU Admission Application fee per campus is $70.  Fee waiver requests are embedded in the CSU Application.
  • Schedule an  with a counselor to ensure your application has no mistakes.
  • Submit CSU Admission Application by August 31. 
  • Keep copies of your application and/or confirmation number for your records.
  • VERY IMPORTANT: Check your email regularly after applying.  There may be deadlines and directions for setting up university portal accounts. 
  • Apply for your CSU or IGETC Certification/Associate Degree(s) if completing requirements by the end of fall.

  • Submit official transcripts via your Hancock portal if asked by the university.
  • Submit, if any, supplemental applications by the scheduled deadline.
  • If you have not filed your  or , do so immediately.
  • Attend University Transfer Day hosted by the UTC.
  • Research  Universities may have separate scholarship applications on their financial aid webpage.
  • Apply for your CSU or IGETC Certification/Associate Degree(s) if completing requirements by the end of fall.
  • Admission decisions typically start to roll out between September and October.
  • Begin to explore housing options.  Housing information is usually included in your offer for admission and/or along with your Student Intent to Enroll (SIR).  

  • To earn a  complete the form to let the University Transfer Center know where you will be attending in the winter/spring.
  • If you applied for financial aid, you will receive a financial aid award This award is most often posted to your university portal.  The financial aid award will provide a detailed description of how much money you will receive at the university. 
  • If possible, visit prospective campuses during fall open house events.  Check out our University Virtual Events page for upcoming transfer events. 
  • Submit your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) to the UC or CSU school of your choice. See your university portal for exact deadlines.
  • Attend your university orientation!  Some campuses will have a transfer-specific orientation.
  • Submit your final official transcripts & AP scores to the university you are attending.  Deadlines vary!

  • Check your email on a regular basis for important updates, requirements, and documents you need to send to each university.
  • Check your university portal regularly! Missing important deadlines often means a withdrawal of your application.
